Games!

The first "game" that I've ever made was a KiSS Doll. KiSS dolls came from Japan, and they're similar to paper dolls. They have their own quirks, and programming language. I started with them in 2001 and made these dolls through 2002. I lost interest when I was in college and explaining to my chemistry-major roommate why I was playing with "paper dolls" was kind of awkward. Since then the popularity seemed to dwindle and the community isn't as active as it used to be.

My second foray into game development was when I discovered AGS. With Adventure Game Studio, it's possible to create old school point and click games like the classic Secret of Monkey Island and all those Sierra "Quest" games. Back in 2007 I tried my hand at it and got stuck because the AGS editor at the time wasn't something I could wrap my brain around. But a year later, I came back to the blue cup community to see that the 3.0 version of the editor was much easier to understand. It was much easier because instead of using an interaction editor, it was all scripting! Yay!

Now that I have a couple of games under my belt. Not that they are fantastic or anything, but I know how I want to do them. I know how to plan and I know what not to do. So those ideas I couldn't make before, well, now they can be made into reality. Currently, I'm working on two game projects:

  • Protocol 001
  • Dr. Lulu and Mr. Harvey

Protocol 001 is coming along nicely. You may visit the Dev Blog here or click the link on the side to visit the concept page.

Dr. Lulu is an old idea. Originally an adventure game, it seems that the idea would be more of a 2D platformer. I'm trying to find a game engine that would fit my needs and won't cost an arm and a leg. Concept sketches will be coming soon.
